🧠 What Is the OC Test?

The NSW Opportunity Class (OC) Placement Test is a computer-based assessment used to identify high-potential Year 4 students for placement in Opportunity Classes for Year 5. These classes offer an enriched academic environment within NSW government primary schools, designed to challenge and extend academically gifted students.

New Cloze Passage Format

In November 2025, the NSW Education Department introduced a new Cloze Passage (Word Choice & Vocabulary) question type as part of the updated OC and Selective Reading Test.

We are pleased to announce that all iClass NSW OC and Selective online tests and practice materials labelled as the 2026 version have been fully updated to include this new format.

📘 OC Test Format (2025 Updated Structure)

All questions have only one correct answer. The test is delivered online through a secure platform provided by Cambridge Assessment.

• Test Date: Held in May each year
• Application Period: Typically opens from November to February.
• Eligibility: Year 4 students in NSW (government and non-government schools)
